What exactly is Reiki?

Reiki is a sacred method of bringing balance and harmony to the body, mind, and soul. Although Reiki is believed to have begun several thousand years ago in Tibet, Reiki had it's rebirth in Japan during the mid 1800s. Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japaneese Christian educator began a 21 year study of this healing phenomena. He discovered ancient sounds and symbols that are directly linked with the human body and nervous system which activate universal life energy for healing.

Translated REI means spirit, air, essence of creation and KI means power or energy. Reiki practitioners channel energy in a particular pattern using chakras, ( energy centers in the body) to heal and harmonize the vibrational frequency of the body. Chakras look like funnels with the narrow end connected to the spine. There are 7 main chakras in your body. They are spiraling energy centers of light, each closely related to a gland in the endocrine system. The Reiki energy is used on the chakras and allowed to flow where it is needed.

Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that everyone can use. Reiki can:

  • Accelerate healing

  • Allieviate anxiety, pain, and fatigue

  • Assist the body in cleansing toxins

  • Balance the flow of subtle energy by releasing blockages

  • Support recovery from a physical injury

In fact, Reiki is believed to improve just about any aspect of life, from physical health to emotional well being to stress reduction and mental clarity. A Reiki treatment feels very relaxing, safe, and nuturing, often people fall asleep. Reiki supports any medical, or supplemental healing methods you may be using already. Anybody can learn to use Reiki to help heal themselves, family members, friends, and animals. I believe Reiki combined with desire and intention is literally putting the POWER to heal back in your own hands.
